=== பெயர்க் காரணம் === திரு+ஐந்து+ஆறு என்பது காவிரியில் இருந்து திருவையாறு (நகரத்தின் தெற்கிலிருந்து) வடக்கில் 13 கி.மீ தொலைவில் உள்ள தஞ்சாவூர் நகரத்துக்கு இடையில் கிளை ஆறுகளாக குடமுருட்டி, வெண்ணாறு, வெட்டாறு, வடவாறு என்னும் ஐந்து ஆறுகளாகப் பிரிந்து செல்வதால் திருவையாறு என இவ்வூர் பெயர் பெற்றது.
